Structural Health Monitoring has taken on significant importance in Italy since the Morandi Bridge in Genoa collapsed in August 2014.

The tragedy reinforced the importance of adequate infrastructure asset management systems and one of the key focus areas is Structural Health Monitoring.
Different sensors and successive data processing systems are utilised. Sensors measure structural responses, such as vibrations, displacements, rotations, strain, as well as environmental parameters like temperature and humidity, and any other significant issues for the current state of the structure.
